Underwater World Langkawi

Even if many people are crazy about it, scuba diving is not my thing and I am only happy under water, if it comes from the shower head. It does not seem to be only me that has this feeling otherwise the aquarium "Underwater World Langkawi" would not belong to the most visited places of interest on the island.

Once you have decided to watch the fish without getting wet feet you should calculate from 45 minutes up to 2 hours for this visit. It is possible to take photos but the flash light has to be switched off if you like to take shots of over 5000 salt and fresh water fish held in over 100 aquariums.

Among other things the 15 meters long tunnel tank is the main attraction. Keeping an eye on the sharks one may hope that the glass pane will stand the pressure of the 600.000 liters of water.

There are 100 shells from all over the whole world displayed to be admired.

You are right. The exit of the aquarium is a shopping paradies again. Beside Souveniers, clothes, perfume, cigarettes and booze you can acquire all sorts of dried fish.

Whether this originates also from the aquarium or not, unfortunately I could not clarify yet. At the moment a "polar house" is under construction as an extension and will probably be finished one day in the future.

My plan was to put up some more information and make a picture gallery. When I asked permission to take some pictures for the web site, the management refused to let me in without paying the entrance fee. Because I'm a bit short on cash there are not many pictures online - at least not yet on my site .
