At the back of the Merdeka Square is the Kuala Lumpur Memorial Library, a magnificent two-storey colonial building, which is both a public library and resource centre. There is extensive information and reference materials on the history of Kuala Lumpur.

With effect from February 2000, Kuala Lumpur Memorial Library is known as Kuala Lumpur Library.

It is open daily except Sunday from 10am to 5pm.
